Best London Ice Rinks 2025 – Magical Christmas Skating Experiences
No matter whether you are a confident ice dancer or just enjoy a twirl around the ice, hanging onto the barrier, London ice rinks have so much to offer. It is a great way to relax and enjoy a very special atmosphere while you are a resident at the family apartments in London. We highlight seven of the best rinks this winter.
Historic London landmarks make the perfect backdrop for London Ice Rinks:
- How about a skate around the dry moat of the Tower of London? It is an incredible experience, skating around and looking up at the great stone walls and ramparts that have made this an impregnable fortress for so many centuries. There may even be some fascinating photo opportunities as the Yeomen warders in their colourful uniforms often like taking to the ice for a relaxing skate. (Note: the exact 2025-26 dates for the Tower of London rink are not publicly confirmed yet.)
- The eighteenth-century surroundings of Somerset House make for one of the most magical of skating experiences. For the 2025–26 season, the rink runs from 12 November 2025 to 11 January 2026. In keeping with the setting, you can even relax with some champagne or afternoon tea and stay in affordable serviced apartments in London. Fancy a skate to music – then try one of the club nights with DJs from Rough Trade Records. Thousands of twinkling lights and Christmas trees make this a very pretty place to skate.
-
Alternatively, head for the Victorian-Gothic splendour of the Natural History Museum in Kensington, just a short stroll from elegant Presidential Apartments Kensington. A 1,000-sq-metre ice rink has been set up close to the façade of this stunning building, complete with a twinkling Christmas tree in the centre. Little ones can try out their skills and gain some confidence on the ice in the adjacent smaller children’s rink. (Dates for 2025-26 not yet confirmed.)

You can even enjoy a skate amid the dramatic spectacle that is Hampton Court Palace. A large rink is set up facing the stunning palace created by Henry VIII. Combine a trip to the rink with an exploration of the Tudor rooms and halls that formed one of Henry VIII’s favourite homes. (2025-26 dates for Hampton Court often run through November to January, but please check the event site for final confirmation.)
-
Want something more modern, more contemporary? Then try Eyeskate beside the London Eye. If you want, you can buy a package that includes a skating session and a trip on the London Eye; or just enjoy a skate round the ice. This is particularly pretty at night, when the rink and the London Eye are illuminated against the backdrop of the London skyline.
-
Canary Wharf in London’s Docklands has a massive rink set amid the iconic towers and skyscrapers that define this area. There are lots of extras to be enjoyed, including a pop-up bar and restaurant serving a wide range of food and drink – as well as an ice path that lets skaters leave the rink and experience the fun of skating below a row of trees laden with twinkling fairy lights. (2025-26 dates typically run from October to January, but check their official calendar.)
-
For sheer scale, there is nothing to beat the ice rink at Hyde Park. This is the largest outdoor ice rink in the UK and is set around the stunning Victorian bandstand, which is illuminated by thousands of lights. In 2025–26, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland runs from 14 November 2025 to 1 January 2026. This is the place to skate and be seen, to enjoy a complete Winter Wonderland experience as you can combine skating with a host of other activities, including fairground rides, a Christmas circus, and an Arctic adventure.
