The season of giving is upon us!
During the holiday season, people flock to the many shopping centers of the British capital to get their hands on the year’s Christmas deals and holiday discounts for their gifts; and London is THE place to be for just that!
Lots of holiday markets, festive fairs and yuletide festivals proliferate throughout the capital in December to help make shopping jolly; however, for those leading hectic lives, the need for emergency shopping goes off the charts!
London contains a wealth of stores and shops to set your sights on, so it’s only natural that we, at the Presidential, scour the streets to find you the best places to visit on such short notice.
For local holiday shopping which supports independent shops, head to Columbia Road's Shopping Wednesdays. The gift shops and boutiques of the east London street stay open late on selected Wednesdays, with carol singing, mulled wine and other festive entertainment in the street.
Whether you want to get your Christmas shopping done, or you're looking to buy festive treats and decorations, London's many holiday markets and fairs are the place to be.
WINTER MARKET AT SOUTHBANK CENTRE: The Winter Market returns to the riverside by Southbank Centre, offering a range of winter pop-up bars, restaurants and stalls under a canopy of twinkling lights.
LEICESTER SQUARE: Put together by the team behind Underbelly Festival, Leicester Square is a festive fondue of live cabaret shows, market stalls and food and drink offerings. They pack a surprising amount into the world-famous square, including wooden chalets selling handcrafted goods.
HYDE PARK WINTER WONDERLAND: If you like your holiday shopping with a side of fun fair rides, theatre shows, and even an ice rink, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is the place to head.
Traditional wooden chalets sell jewellery, food and drink, toys, clothes, craft items and more. Be warned though — it does get VERY busy at Winter Wonderland, particularly on evenings and weekends closer to Christmas.
LONDON BRIDGE: Christmas by the River returns to the southern bank of the Thames, between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, with wooden cabins, festive food and drink, and river views. 26 November 2019-5 January
EALING BROADWAY: Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre hosts a series of winter chalet-style stalls, with a rotating line-up of traders each week to keep things fresh. Traders from all over the world sell their products underneath a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, with carol singers serenading the crowds at certain times.
